Walking on Water
Walking on Water by Kara May allowed me to engage in one of my most enjoyable projects so far. All four actors did an amazing job in portraying the complex characters that were created inside the author's imagination.
Susan and Barry are a middle-aged couple who come each year to celebrate their anniversary on the isolated beach where they first met. Only this time a mysterious young man called Jason joins them and ater his girlfriend, Iris, appears on the scene. Although both young people are full of charm and surprises, there is something strange about their presence. Are they a personification of the older couple's desire to have children — or are they simply shadows that crept out of Barry's guilty conscience?
That question is never quite answered in the play and the audience is left to make up its own mind as to who Iris and Jason really are.
For me, capturing the slightly eerie atmosphere of the play was one of the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of this production.
